I Loathe...

...potty training!!!!!

I have no doubt that I am truly pathetic when it comes to this issue. But I absolutely detest training my child to pee/poo on the potty. Yep. I have said it, and I'll say it again...I'd rather change diapers all day than potty train. Maybe I should be more specific. The part that I really dislike, to put it nicely, is the poo training. Sienna is pretty much trained in the other area...no problem. But the former is just KILLING me! I think she's done it once or twice in the potty, but the rest is in her underwear, which inevitably, has ended up in clothes, all over the floors of our apartment (yuck...sorry I didn't warn you not to read. Hold your breath!), on me, etc. We even bought a travel potty for the car (thank you, Ikea!). It came in handy Saturday post-Sea World trip. Hooray!

I was talking to a friend recently who was telling me about the escapades they are having with their toddler as well. Their case is FAR worse than mine. I walked away from talking to my friend thinking, "okay, mine isn't the worst yet". Still, I pray night and day for a small miracle. That Sienna will soon be completely potty-trained.

Advice fully welcome! I'll take whatever I can get! I'm getting desperate. Treats won't work. I can't find any kind of motivation-getter for this girl.

Sorry, I don't have any tips or advice. But I tagged you. Does that make you feel better?

Oh AMEN, AMEN, AMEN!!! I actually started training Brynlee (kind of young, but she seemed ready) and after 2 poops, I quit. Sorry I don't have better advice than quitting :)

My favorite thing to do was read on the toilet, my Mom still has great pictures of me with big books. I don't know if this will work but stay motivated by this,"You don't want your kid to be the stinky kid in the back of the class." Yea!!! Do it for the kids!!! Ha ha...pointy butt!

So it sounds a little harsh, but when Mason had his first poopy accident we made him get in the shower and clean off in a cold shower, not freezing obviously, but cold enough to make it uncomfortable. That was his one and only accident!! Also is it possible that she is afraid of pooping in the toilet? I have heard that it is common that kids sometimes have a fear of going in the toilet because they have gotten so used to it staying close to them in their diaper and having it fall into the toilet is a new feeling. When we were potty training Mason we could tell that he was holding in his pee like he was afraid to go in the toilet. Todd told him that when Mr. Toilet is thirsty Mason could give him a drink (pee) and when he is hungry he could feed him (poop.) As soon as Todd said that Mason let it out. For a long time after that Mason would tell us he was feeding Mr. Toilet or giving him a drink! I don't know if any of this will help, hopefully it does! Good luck!!

I hear you and can relate. My friend potty trained in one day so I stole some of her methods and for the past two days, so far so good. She had a doll pee pee on a little potty then everytime her son had an accident they had to practice 10 times. Aidan has only had 2 accidents in 2 days which is huge and he does not like to poo-poo on the potty but yesterday he came and told me he needed to go poo-poo. Anyways, good luck!

potty training is so not fun! We made a sticker chart for dylen, I split it in 3 sections, one for sitting and trying but not really going, one for going pee and one for going poo. She got different stickers for each thing, stars, smiley faces, and big fancy princess ones for when she went poop, she's obsessed with princesses. and then I had a gift bag full of things I got at the dollar store, toys, coloring books, lollypops etc. each time she went potty she got to put a sticker on her chart and after going pee I think 5 times she got to pick something out of the bag, but every time she went poop she got to pick something out so that was a really big deal, she liked seeing all the stickers but mostly I think she liked picking stuff out of the bag.
Good luck!!

A cold bath after pooping in panties. It's not to punish them, but more to say "This is not okay". Lincoln would just not really care because he knew he was getting a fun warm bath afterwards anyway, which could be considered acceptance of poopy underwear! But after his 'artwork', we gave him a cold bath (just not nice and warm, obviously not COLD), and he hasn't done it since.
Consistency is the key. I'm no good at that, either. Tonight Lincoln peed all over his toys, just 'to see what would happen'. Well, DUH! Gross. He got an early bedtime...

Really, patience is the key. She'll do it when she's ready. Jackson was underwear trained and pee pee down pat all day long at 2 1/2 yrs. He did not poo potty train until after 3 years old. No joke. You must nip the constipation problem in the bud. No milk and juice unless they are eating fabulously - high fiber and tons of fruit. Water is key. I did RAW milk for 2 weeks also. What finally got him was peer pressure at school about having a pull-up... and the Raw milk. Now he is totally trained except at night he wears a pull up in case of accidents. Hang in there girl. Don't give up. Oh ya, one more thing. We told him when he turned 3 that there were no more diapers allowed b/c 3 year olds don't wear them. So they all went into brothers room. Good luck!

Been there and just getting over it. Prest would not poop in the toilet for the longest time. We started doing poo poo time-we read a book and every few pages would just have to try and push with no results. Once he actually did start to poop and got scared but we cheered him on. I also bought some fun stuff from the $1 section at Target and wrapped them as a present. It was fun for him to choose a gift (or just be given one) and get to open it. He will sometimes still say "Pee pee and poo poo in the potty, we get presents!" We've been potty training since the end of July and are just now seeing him tell us on his own that he has to pee and poop. So just be patient-it may take...forever (jk-it just feels like that!)
