Oh, to be a bird!

Lately I've been picking up the Bubbles (that's what I call them) from school and going for short whirls around our local domain. One day I felt the need to smell salt in the air and see the complementary color to orange. So up the road we mosied and ended up at the Torrey Pines Gliderport. It's one of my favorite places to go and just sit and think- or just sit. I like doing that if there's something to look at. So we went.

It was a beautiful day and pretty windy, so there were plenty of gliders to watch and marvel at.

You'll notice though, that my sweeties had something much more interesting to marvel at. It never ceases to amaze how the simple things entertain my children. Rocks. Tons of little rocks. They adorned the walking surface beneath and simultaneously provided endless entertainment. There was a hole in the plastic table which they would aim and throw the rocks into. That only stopped once Chloe started looking through it from the bottom, while Sienna continued throwing rocks into it from the top. Luckily no injury incurred!

In the end the Bubbles truly loved watching the "kites" drift and fly through the wind. It was so fun and such an easy outing.

Yes, way to be cheaply entertained! Was that Tuesday? I was hiking Torrey Pines that day and saw the gliders from afar, so maybe we were seeing the same thing at the same time. Do you have a zoo membership?

Cute! I was looking at the photos you took and I was thinking "Oh man, I wish I lived closer to the ocean... oh, wait..." And then I chuckled to myself for a good long while. We need to head out west more often! :)
