apple season!

as much as i claim to adore the summer, i am thinking that i'd better start owning up to the fact that i LOVE the fall!!!  one of my favorite newer traditions (three years running now!) that really kicks it off for me is going apple picking in julian at ravenhill orchards with our sidekicks, the seiberts.  we pick apples, eat a few, pick some more and so forth.  it's so much fun and at the end, you get bags of beautiful, organic, juicy apples.  it's so wonderful!

then you get home and you get to work!  usually i only make apple pies galore, but i've always wanted to make applesauce (didn't happen this year...not enough apples).  i did make apple butter tonight though.  my house currently smells like apple spice heaven.  come on over!  and i did make an apple pie thursday night.  delicious!

all in all, it's been a great start to a new season!
