Cabrillo in Pt. Loma

Don't you just love those drives when you have no idea where you want to go, but you just drive away anyway? Thursday, while Stephen was at his last final for the quarter, the babies and I took a drive. Sienna and Chloe both needed a nap desperately, so off we went. First we went to Sea World area and ended up going to Pt. Loma. So I figured we'd drive up to the navy cemetary there on the cliffs. Growing up my family would go to those cemetarys on Memorial Day to pay our respects to those who fought for our country and to remember their sacrifices. It is so beautiful when each grave is marked with an American flag. That is definitely when I am most patriotic. So, we went there...

From this view you are looking east down at the San Diego harbor and the city...
...and from these views looking west at the ocean. I especially loved the Poinsettia flowers that someone had left on a loved ones grave. The view is spectacular and so are the thoughts that enter your mind while there...
(below) ...and just yonder south of the cemetary is Cabrillo National Monument where a beautiful old lighthouse is. It was originally there before anything, but because of the fog that would hide its light from ships sight being so high, they built another lighthouse west below the cliffs near the tidepools. It costs $5 to get in for a week or $15 to become members and go whenever you want. I figured it would be worth being members since I love driving to pretty places...so we are! I thought of Shayla when I posted this. She always wants to know places to go with the kiddies or anything of that sort. So here are a few places that are special.

I love that place. It is absolutely breathtaking! I took my sister Heather and her family when they were here during Halloween. Did you take your girls out of the car and how did you do that by yourself without having to run in two directions at once? You have to teach me lessons ... and we have to go again very very soon! Miss you.
