Burn baby, burn!

I wouldn't say that I'm addicted, but boy do I like to exercise! Maybe I should explain a little better.
Fourteen months ago I had Chloe via c-section. Definitely NOT my preferred method of giving birth. The recovery really sucked! I hated being so confined to sitting and doing hardly anything for a while. Needless to say, I made SURE that I was up and moving as soon as I was allowed to.

So, about a month later I registered for a Step Aerobics class at Palomar college with my awesome workout partner (and sis-in-law), Robin! It was a great start, although not easy. All that jumping, hopping, etc. does a number to you after having a baby! We would go walk quickly around the track a few times afterwards too. It was totally great!
After the class was over, that was it. I remembered seeing my amazingly motivated neighbor, Katie Harding, leaving early in the morning with her kids stil in their PJ's jogging over to Discovery Lake and back. Such an awesome example!! I then decided to start walking quickly around my neighborhood. That turned into jogging.
Later, I had a really great motivation for getting back into shape. My sister-in-laws (Robin, Katie, Christy) and I registered to do the Mud Run at Camp Pendleton (a 10K with obstacles). That really got me motivated. We started a workout blog, and off we went!
At first it was mainly jogs around the area and yoga DVD's. Then I had more energy, so I did really awesome workout DVD's, went to the gym for classes and other cardio and then did more challenging runs (what I mean by that in this case, is longer distance runs) at Lake Miramar. I was always a sprinter in high school and never imagined I would run more than .5 miles without huffing and puffing and ker-plonking!

I've come along way, without seeing much results. Reason being? I was building muscle, building up my endurance....but I also wasn't eating very good. I'm doing much better now! I still have my yummy foods, just in much smaller portions. My health has improved, I have more daily energy and I'm a much better mommy! Hallelujah!
I write this blog post mainly for journaling purposes so that after the birth of my future 3rd child (whenever that may be...definitely not for a few more years!), I can look back and remember what got me going. To remember why I did all of this and how it made me feel.........TOTALLY FABULOUS!

Your insights are a good reminder for me. I am in real need for a revival in the health and fitness Dept.
I'm looking forward to my time in CA to help me get the jump start I need. I'd love to work out with you a couple of times while I'm home. Mike's Grandma is in La Jolla!
Keep up the awe inspiring example! Your the best!

Hallelujah, AMEN! I've been resurrecting my old athletic body up here too and with each ounce shed, I've discovered just what a delicious hole I ate myself into. It does feel amazing doesn't it? and you LOOK amazing...really. Great post.

You are awesome, and you motivated me to start working out more consistantly. Consistancy is my problem, I'm all over the place with my working out, one week on three weeks off, bla bla bla you know how that goes. Well that is not going to cut it. Thanks for giving me that final push!

That is awesome! I wish I could do more exercising right now than what I currently do. It's so hard to motivate myself!!

Awww Brooke, you are such an inspiration for all c-section mommies with pouchy tummies like me! :) You look amazing and I'm so proud of you. Maybe you need to kick my booty up once in a while (good luck with that by the way) :) Keep it up!
