Favorite Person (outside of family)? Right now that would be Haley…she brightened up my boring morning at work yesterday with a spunky email feeding my hopes and dreams of starting up our own business of craftiness and eco-friendly everything-ness.
Favorite Food? This really isn’t fair. Something I am almost always down for is either Cuban food (Andres’) or Japanese food(Benihana’s). Unfortunately they are two kinds of food that I don’t eat often enough!
Quirks about you? At the end of the day when the girls are finally in bed, I have to pick up the house and clean it a bit before I can relax. I can’t relax when I look around and I see lots of mess around me (the exception being ONE toy or a FEW books strewn across the floor- THAT I can ignore).
Any regrets in life? That I didn’t backpack through Europe for a few months before I met Stephen and got married. Always wanted to do that!
Favorite Charity/Cause? Most definitely the March of Dimes. Without this wonderful organization, babies born prematurely would most likely not live past birth. This organization was originally started to help prevent /defeat Polio…then later was re-dedicated to a new cause, newborns. I’m so grateful for their studies and financial aid towards this cause, for without it, my 7 week early daughter, Sienna, might not be with us.
Favorite Blog recently? Definitely this one. (Soulemama)
Something you can't get enough of? Time with my sweetie pie girlsies. They crack me up and make me a better person.
Worst Job you've ever had? Oh boy…I’ve had a few doosies, but I’d have to say that working at Marketplace Cleaners (a dry-cleaners in San Marcos on the corner of Woodland Pkwy and Mission Rd) was horrible. I worked there for 2 months when it first opened (1996 maybe?). The owner and his wife were nice enough, but their friend/family member, “Snoopy” we’ll call him, did not like women. He hated me. I honestly don’t know why. He got mad at me for something one day, and I’d HAD it. So, right then and there I gave my 2 weeks notice. He said, “just go”…and so I DID! Crying myself all the way home (he yelled quite a bit- I was traumatized at 16). Like I said, HORRIBLE.
What job would you pay not to have?
Garbage Man
Lipo assistant
Hotel maid
Slaughterhouse worker
Medicene tester
Guilty Pleasure?
Mmmm…Coca-Cola. Can’t help myself. It’s SO yummy. I try to be good and only have a few a week. I’m actually trying to cut soda completely from my diet, but this lovely drink is what makes it so hard to do!
Got any confessions?
I cannot STAND the High School Musical movies, especially the songs. I know, I know. Many of you can’t imagine what on earth I am thinking, but it’s true. The cheesiness is beyond what my body was built to handle. And I even read Twilight and liked it!!
If you had $1000 dollars to spend on yourself how would you spend it? To spend on me? Not bills? Wow…probably clothes and craft stuff. Mostly clothes, cause I have a bazillion craft things and fabrics that I need to use before I buy more.
Favorite thing about your house?
The high vaulted ceilings…allows me to imagine that I live in an amazing condo, instead of an old, 70’s inspired, UCSD-owned and run apartment.
Least favorite thing about your house? The carpet for sure. It belongs in a ghetto office set-up. It’s hard, thin, blue (with TONS of bleach spots from previous tenants) and is fraying.
One thing you are bad at? Admitting that I’m wrong. Saying I’m sorry. Yep…pride is an issue for all, but I think I’m a bit more than the average Brooke.
One thing you are good at? (Kind of)…playing the piano. I USED to be better. Sad, but true. I used to practice hours each day. Especially when I was in college. I would go to the practice rooms and play for 3-5 hours, with an occasional pee break. Now I rarely practice hours each week. I still enjoy it and try to play as often as possible, but have other things that take precedence right now.
If you could change one thing about your circumstances, what would it be? We would have NOOOOOO debt. NONE. Zip. Zero. Zilch. Squat. Nada. Ningun. All gone.
Who would you like to meet someday?
President Monson
What makes you feel sexy? Clean-shaven legs…cause c’mon, really…how often do I really shave my legs? (TMI?)
Who is your real life hero? My husband. In his short time on this earth already…he has overcome some mighty challenges and is the most amazing person I know. Love you my love)
What is the hardest part of your job?
My mom job? Being patient when things with the girls don’t go how I expected. Thus is life. That’s why Patience is always something I’m working on, ALWAYS. I want to be a kind, patient mom who listens to her children and doesn’t jump to conclusions. Who let’s things happen the way they are happening, even though it may not be how I want it to.
When are you most relaxed? Just after getting an amazing massage/facial and being pampered at La Costa Spa…just a few weeks ago with one of my best friends, Cari, for her pre-wedding pamper party. It was heaven!
What can you not live without? Besides chocolate? My husband and girls. As sappy as it is, I would not be the happy person I am today without them in my life. Especially knowing how great it is with them in it.
Do you agree or disagree with the recent article that reported that blogs are authored by narcissists? Disagree. Although I’m sure there are those out there who just want to talk about themselves and show off what they’ve done, I think a lot of people are using blogs these days as their link to sanity. It’s like public journal-writing. It’s truly therapeutic to write about your life and what you’ve been up to. It sometimes helps me to see what I need to be doing more or less of.
Why do you blog? To keep others updated on what our little family is up to. Especially for those living out-of-state, out-of-country (ROK people!) and even those locally that we just don’t ever get the time to be with!
Who are you tagging? Chris Stokes, Marisa Henrie, Kiersten Smith, Bekah Blanc, Malerie Weed, Nina Seibert and Ashley Smith!!! (Get to it ladies!)
