The Beast

I took Chloe in for her 2 year physical last week. I wasn't surprised to hear that she is still in the high percentiles for all (90th percentile for height and 95th percentile for weight). My sweet chunky baby. She has thinned out a tad, but not as much as I thought she would. She's just always been a big girl. At this point, she and Sienna weigh the same...34 lbs! It's hard to believe, unless you are carrying her. Then you believe it! Her awesome doctor informed me that her BMI (body mass index) is a little higher than it should be. So we will be working on having her eat a little less. She really does eat A TON at most sittings. At home we're pretty good about controlling it, but at her daycare, not so much.

She continues to be "the beast" (in a completely endearing way, honestly) in more than one way. We love her so much! She such a fun little girl!

2 seems too young for a diet! poor baby. have you tried cutting out unneeded calories like juice and crackers?
she is so dang cute!

2 year olds shouldn't have to worry about weight. I agree with Robin. Cut out unneeded sugars like juice, soda, fruit snacks and white bread. Switching to whole grains and using portion control is a good idea. It's sad how young doctors are measuring and targeting kids BMI. Talk to your daycare about your concerns and they should be more than happy to cooperate. Good luck:)
PS- the first week without sugar will be HELL for all of you. It's natural for the body to "detox" Hang in there and you'll see the results.

You know, Connley was the same way, always eating a ton. People always said he would eventually slow down. I kept waiting...it isn't until very recently that he started to not eat as much. And he finally started slimming down a bit, but is still thick. So maybe 3will be the big number for her too!?! I wouldn't worry too much.
