Bad Religion ROCKS

For Stephen's birthday my mom and I bought him tickets to see his favorite band, Bad Religion, at the House of Blues in Los Angeles. THEY WERE AWESOME!! They have such a great stage presence and you can tell they SO enjoy their music. They're not annoying or too roudy for a rock band either. I just LOVED the concert. The drive up was long, cause that's how it is. But it was well worth it.

We got there at the end of the first opening band (can't remember their name, but they were entertaining). The second opening band was horrible (Flipper). The lead singer was ridiculous and SOOOooo drunk. Their music was very monotonous and all that. I was relieved when they were done.

Other exciting happenings during the concert were fights between silly guys next to us. One guy threw beer at the other, Stephen and I got totally soaked. So gross! Another was a lovely couple making out for all to see during the second band....BUT....finally Bad Religion came on and made everyone happy. We were like 5 feet from the stage, so once BR came on, everyone was pushing us forward toward the stage, due to the mosh pit behind us. It was crazy. I just went with it. It kind of felt like I was in ocean water, you know...how if you stand there in the waves it moves you back and forth? It was like that, only people were moving us back and forth.

Then of course, Stephen breaks his nose (yeah!)...he's pretty sure he did. But what do you do for that? We assumed nothing. Then spoke to a few MD's in our ward who confirmed that. So, his face (nose particularly) are VERY sore and hurt. Apparently he got elbowed in the nose in the mosh pit during his second moshing round. All in good fun though right? What we do for the sake of FUN!

Oh geeze, that really sucks! Hope he's not milking it too bad! And I though Bryan was having a bad day.... he hit a deer on his way home from work and killed it. But like you said, what do ya do? :) Glad you two had fun!

That's awesome that you got to go to a concert together- they're so fun. And one where you both like the band? Even better! There are certain artists that I'd LOVE to see, but the tickets are always so expensive. Sorry about Stephen's nose- ouch!

Mike and I went to a ton of concerts before we had kids... BR was one of them. Must be a Baker thing =). Good for you for doing it post-babies. Mike will be so proud that his baby brother broke his nose in the mosh pit - awesome! Glad it wasn't you.

Brooke...I wish I was a cool wife...Paul obviously feels I am lacking in the coolness department because you took Steven to Bad Religion...and I haven't taken him to a cool concert yet, I hope someday I can become a cool wife...uh I think I have written cool too many times...haha! Can I just say I love the musical choices you have made for your playlist...I have to admit sometimes when I am at work I go to your blog and listen to some hip tunes, I love it!! I hope you have a happy Easter with the fam!

I do have to say -- I love your stories. Nothing this random or exciting ever happens to me. I mean come on, my husband never gets injuries besides maybe a paper cut and well, our lives are boring. I love these blogs so I can live vicariously through my friends. :)

I'm glad that it wasn't you that got your nose broken, had It been us at the concert and with my luck, it would have been me!

Way to party like an old person! Just kidding. The concert looked fun. I haven't been to one in years. Maybe that' 'cause I'm REALLY old.
