what?? how? why?

i thought these things when i walked into the girls' room this morning after spin.  she's wearing some pajama shorts (the elastic waist part around her mid-section) for a shirt, and a white t-shirt (also on in a funky fashion) for bottoms.  notice how her footed fleece pajamas are off and at her feet?  yeah.

chloe had a rough night last night.  she woke up around midnight crying.  she does this frequently lately.  usual routine goes like this:  chloe appears at my bedside crying.  at first she says she has to go to the bathroom.  once she's on the toilet, she asks for something ridiculous like wanting to watch elmo or hercules.  of course, i say no, which upsets her and sends her into a mini eruption.  as it carries on, i get less patient...cause i'm tired and it's midnight, and i'm not nice when i'm tired.  ask stephen.  or my mom.

so last night this exact scenario happened.  only after the mini eruption, it got worse.  she was completely out of control.  i have no idea how to attack this.  she has been gradually been getting worse with her tantrums and fits.  it's almost impossible to get her to stop crying without threatening a spank, which i'm trying my hardest to stop doing.  it works, but i feel like it shouldn't be the only way of getting her to do what we need her to do...calm...down.  so as she's escalating, stephen couldn't handle it anymore apparently, cause he came storming in all annoyed at her for her ridiculousness.  but i was relieved that he took over, cause i couldn't do it anymore.  this carried on for another 15 minutes.  poor sienna!  it's amazing that she's able to sleep through all of this.  she's always been a deep sleeper like me.  lucky girl!  it also came in handy when we moved chloe into her room when chloe was like 5 months old, cause we let chloe cry it out (best decision a parent can make when training a newborn), and she slept right through it.

so when i saw chloe's new wardrobe change this morning, i laughed so hard.  this must've happened after stephen and i left her crying in her room to go to sleep (once again, poor sienna!).  she gets mad, so she changes her clothes.  i can deal with that!

Wow. The only thing you can do when they are that upset is leave them in a room somewhere and let them cry it out.

She might be having night terrors and that might be why she's waking up every night and not wanting to go back to sleep. Kurtis did the same thing when he was that age. Tantrums get worse because her sleep is poor and disrupted. To get her to sleep through the night make sure she doesn't eat or drink ANYTHING but water at least 2 hours before she goes to bed. When I did that with Kurtis he stopped waking up within 1-2 nights and so he was a happier kid and so was I.

Oh man, this sucks! I wasn't a very good sleeper as a kid either (you might remember?) but, I hope for your sake and hers that she grows out of this soon. At least your girls are so cute, that partially makes up for it.
good luck with Chloe. :)

Yikes! I'm a beast at night too if my sleep is disrupted, so I get the short temper thing. Maybe she is partially asleep too and that's why she is coming up with odd requests? Maybe you can make up some kind of thing like the dream fairy wants to come visit her and give her wonderful dreams about Elmo or Hercules and then in the morning you can watch it and it will come true! hehe. Good luck!!! The pj temper tantrum is awesome.
