friday randoms

as we have just moved it has brought me to this deep-cleaning, re-organization state.  not to mention i'm nesting, which has turned out to be a huge blessing with the move as i have plenty to do in that aspect.  i have been going through tons of plastic bins of things i'd been keeping, through three-ring-binders full of random papers, and so forth.  i can't remember where i got the paper above, but i'm pretty sure i was in high school.  i found it funny then, not quite as much now....still....funny enough that i wanted to share it.  it's not great quality and i considered re-typing it up for you, but changed my mind.  see if you can do that math!

stephen found this last night while going through one of his random bins of things.  he wrote this on 9/17/1995 during third period at school.  awesome, huh?  i think my personal favorite is the last entry...which is yours?

then some recent artwork by the girls.  both of them love to draw and create, especially sienna.  it seems like she is always coloring something.  now that our patio is more cleared out i need to get them painting again.  one of my favorite things about these drawings (aside from the cute manner in which they each wrote their names) is the color schemes.  sienna has been using all kinds of really great color combos which i'm really digging.  sometimes they also write a bunch of random letters in a row on the page.  i'll ask them what it says, and most of the time they say they don't know.  occasionally it'll be a made up word that they come up with.  love my creative little girls!

a small little sidenote:  yesterday while chloe is coloring some alphabet pages that we bought them, she decides to add eyelashes to a character.  she says, "i'm going to add some eye-blinks."  haha....love my bug.

tough mudder 2011 (part 2)

if you haven't seen part one yet, see here.

after exiting the boa constrictor, all three guys decided they were sick of wearing their shirts.  oh, boys!  stephen had no sunscreen under his shirt, so it really doesn't need to be said, but i'll say it...he got toasted!   in fact, he's still suffering the consequences of his action.  his shoulders blistered and everything.  yuck, and pain.

this guy (above) both grossed me out and cracked me up.  he ran the whole thing in....a speedo?  yup.  he did.  at the end of the race it was pretty funny cause he was scared to run through the electro-shock area...gee, i wonder why.  a little exposed, i would say.

nina took the sequence of shots of stephen's flip and i managed to catch this one shot of him upside-down during his flip.  the guys just in front (in blue) blocked the rest of my shots unfortunately.

i'm sure it was an accident (riiiight honey?), but as stephen climbed out of the ice bath (obstacle 4) he mooned everyone watching.  quite entertaining really.  poor tyler probably got the best shot as he was waiting behind stephen to climb out of the icy water.  here stephen is correcting the oops.

then up the nice steep climb...

electro-shock!  yay!!!!  so as the runners come running towards their last obstacle they are sprayed by a fire hose.  isn't that nice of the volunteers?  they cared just that much to make sure the runners got shocked.  i loved the black sign off to the left that you see as you're coming towards the shock wires, "do not pee on electric fence."  now that's some good advice!

post-race...and talking about the race and all the craziness.

me and prego belly very happy to have husband be done (after three hours and forty minutes!).  i needed to sit down, and not on dirt.

the siebert clan!

thanks nina for finding the tough mudder and inspiring our crazy husbands to partake.  you rock!

tough mudder 2011!!

i married one "tough mudder", for sure.  i mean, come on...look at that facial hair.  it now cannot be denied.  and those aviator glasses?  are you still trying to deny it?  i didn't think so.

stephen participated in the tough mudder up at snow valley, near big bear lake on saturday with friends, tyler and cory siebert.  nina found it online and thought immediately of stephen.  it's no wonder considering his teenage backround and considering he's still crazy.  so he, tyler and cory signed up and started training about six months ago.

the tough mudder is a ten-mile run, up and down an 8,000 feet elevation change throughout the course.  there are 24 obstacles throughout the course, most of which are pretty crazy!  i only got to see about three of the obstacles due to my ever-growing belly.  i contracted just walking up to the start of the race, so i figured i shouldn't hike up through the mountain.  good idea self, good idea.

my favorite obstacle to watch (by far) was the electro-shock wires (below).  this is pre-anyone-ready-to-run-through-them.  it is also the last obstacle of the race....just fifty feet yonder from this one is the finish line.

there are some wires that will shock you up to 10,000 volts.  while nina and i watched this part, we kept thinking people were tripping at the end of it and falling flat on their faces.  no.  no, no, no.  we were wrong.  those people were being shocked so violently that it knocked them to the ground.  yes.  it was insane.  it was at this point that i decided i had no desire to do the tough mudder with stephen next year.

after doing a flip into the gauntlet (obstacle 3), stephen and the guys climbed up into these black ice pools of death, as i call them.  the have to swim down under into the water under a wooden middle section and then climb out.  see all the ice those volunteers are dumping in?  yeah.  that water was arctic cold!

some of the most fabulous race costumes were at the tough mudder.  i enjoyed the sexy chorizos costume, luchador style.

walking up to the start of the race.

this was obstacle number 2, the boa constrictor.  these tube tunnels are seriously small.   i hated crawling through tunnels like these in the mud run because they cut up your knees really bad, but these tunnels were way smaller and more constricted...ha!  the line (in the picture above) is for those waiting to go through it.

i even pretended to go through it, belly and all!  haha....riiiight.  see how muddy i am?  uh huh.

the boys just leaving the boa constrictor, getting ready for the "kiss of mud".

more to come...

it's thursday

eating fifteen redvines right in a row isn't too horrible, right?  i forget how much i love these things until i get started, and then it's quite literally a rampage until they're gone.  let's all pray that stephen gets home in the next ten minutes to stop me before i scarf them all down!  eek!

i've been captain slacker at posting near to the day that i take the actual pictures (with the exception of bump picture, number one).  here is more proof:  stephen's birthday expedition, just the two of us to the aquarium of the pacific in long beach.  it is truly an awesome aquarium!  note to self, though:  next time don't go on a saturday with the rest of l.a.  good then, here's some photos.

huge whale.
huge fish tank.

hubby petting sharks.
me admiring the perfection of this starfish on the glass.

hubby getting his finger sucked on by an anenome

sandworms...this is how they get their food.  they wait...

seadragon.  i'm completely fascinated by this creature.

we then ate milkshakes at ruby's.

later took a nap on the beach...his request.  it was heavenly.

two things

we have had quite the week so far, and the rest proves to be busy as well!  you know that feeling you get sometimes when you just know that it's going to be one of those weeks.  despite the many good things surrounding it...everything just hits you at once?  that was monday night.  okay, so it's not quite as dramatic as i'm making it sound.  it's just timing, i guess.

so monday night chloe starts running a slight fever around dinner time.  we just kept an eye on her.  by bedtime it was getting high, so we popped some tylenol into her mouth.  by midnight the sweetie had quite the high fever going on.  it stresses me out, even though (most the time) i know she'll be fine.  it's partly my motherly instinct, partly my mother passing down her stressed out nature.  i do stress out when my kids get sick, a little.  i start to imagine lots of "what if" scenarios.  but i'm getting better.  especially the more experience i get.  i just love those little girls so much.  i hate to see them in pain.

anyway, so chloe ends up waking up around 3am choking on her throw-up (sooo sad).  stephen gets in there (despite his exhaustion...more on that later) just as she's starting to sit up and throw up elsewhere.  he was lucky enough to receive part of that gift.  her fever is high again.  at this point she's awake and upset, so i decide that i'll stay up with her.  chloe's desire at 3:30am is to watch hercules.  greek hotty it is!  so i manage to stay awake (as does she) through the whole movie.  her fever was still super high (i've given up taking temps lately, only because it causes her, and me, more stress, than it actually helps.  unless she's totally lethargic and not responding, i'll leave her alone now, for the most part).  only a few hours til we can take her to the walk-in hour at the doctor's office, so we pop another movie in.  this time?  the tigger movie!  this time, i'm struggling to stay awake.  i attempt to fall asleep on the couch, while she is cozy-ish on the recliner chair.  she won't be having that.  so i get coaxed (begged) into sitting in the chair with her, holding her.  felt like 1,000 degrees sitting there holding that hot little body.

sienna finally comes in around 6:15am waking me up from a partial sleep.  i convince her to get daddy up cause mommy's "done"!  then off we went to take sienna to school and me to work.  stephen took chloe to the doctor to find out she has strep throat.  poor baby!  antibiotics started and lots of sleep to ensue.

*             *             *               *

the other thing.

rewind to monday evening.  the girls have just gone to bed.  chloe running a fever in bed.  i'm starving, cause i'd just worked out that night and hadn't eaten yet (8pm, yes..bad).  i really want eggs, but we don't have any...nor do our usual back-ups, the seiberts.  dang!  i try to convince him that he needs to drive to the store and buy me some so i can eat eggs.  ha!  he's not having it, and i'm annoyed about it (hey, i was hungry and tired...not a good combo).  very.  then he takes off to help someone move a couch.  so i'm more annoyed now.  it's okay, i get over it.  don't worry!  i hate it when i act like a princess like that...ewww, so dumb.

anyway, stephen comes home with a nice bag of fruit (thanks s & l!) and a 2-3 inch long gash on his right hand.  it's pretty deep too.  great!  that's steve for ya.  he always manages to do things like this to himself.  at least it was in doing service, right?  uh huh.

i make him take off the bandage he'd placed on it, to reveal it was still wanting to bleed pretty bad.  we debated back and forth if he should go to the e.r. or not.  stitches?  glue?  i thought we could just glue it ourselves, but cause it was so deep we weren't sure.  plus, that's his writing hand, and that's all he does day in and day out.  he writes equations and problems all day (electrical engineer).  we opt to have him go to the emergency room, even though i know he's going to be waiting for a long time.  off he went, to return around 1am.  just in time to get a few hours of sleep before getting puked on by miss chloe.  talk about a night!!

at the hospital they had wanted to stitch up his hand, but because it took so long for him to be seen, the wound had partially healed shut.  the doctor, lovingly (not!), tried to open it back up so he could stitch it.  the gash wouldn't have it.  so he decided to glue it.  thus, he have a lovely glued gash to show.  i actually dig it, cause you can still see the slice.  i think that's kinda cool, but i'm weird like that.

for the love.

stub

this is what i call nasty.  some might call it beautiful (stephen would).  he has been donning this for a week now.  i immediately begged him to make it go away, which he did not.  the flavor saver i don't mind so much at all.  that can stay.  in fact, i like it.  but the 'stache?  it's not even a full thick mustache, but i really don't like it.  he wants to be a musketeer again....yes, this would be only his second time in our marriage...not to mention he ruined my pretty knitted blue scarf last year for his costume...and i'm pretty sure he did it a few times while growing up.  shall i restate that?  i'm pretty sure he did it a few times while attempting to grow up.  there!  that sounds a little more correct.  the only difference back then was that he and his buddy, scott, drew mustaches on their faces with permanent marker.  i tried to nix the idea of musketeering it up this year.  we'll see if my heavy suggestion sticks.  wish me luck people!

Story of my life

My dear husband's "smile". Ahhh...the memories. Just weeks before wedding we would practice having him smile so he wouldn't infect our wedding pictures with the cheese-y, fake smile he loves to show. This one he did on purpose...I think. I hope. We were waiting for Harry Potter 6 to start. Great flick, by the way.

cheek to cheek

Due to my serious lack of blog posting lately, I thought I'd throw a picture out there for now, until I really have the ganas to do more. Loves!

Mohawk - Stage Two

Coming to show me the pile of hair. I'm thinking that he's going to be sad one day when he sees all the hair his head used to produce, back in the good ole days.

He even cleaned up after himself!

Styling wasn't too bad either. I remembered a guy from my high school used to use Elmer's Glue to hold his EXTREMELY tall and crazy mohawk together and up. So, we did it. A little hairspray on the side...although I'm prettys ure we didn't need it. The glue would've been sufficient.

Oilla!...a wonderful mohawk for the rest of the week.

Mohawk - Stage One

Stephen started today looking like the above picture. Not too shabby, I've got to admit I enjoyed his long hair...most the time, that is. Very surfer-ish, southern California-ish. Right? Until you look at the next few pictures and see the nasty looks he could have.

Ponytail....BARF.

Slightly EMO.

So we got to work, bunching his hair into sections.

Examining the final after-cut product.

See Stage Two.
